The Monday of Canada Day weekend, we had the pleasure of photographing the very special and unique wedding – the union of Holly and Alyson.
Niagara Falls, the “honeymoon capital of the world”, possesses a certain romance that I think we locals often take for granted. Holly and Alyson found it to be the perfect destination for them to confess their love for each other and finally tie the knot.
Their wedding was, as Holly put it “an intimate event with two brides, a bunch of Cirque du Soleil folk, high school mates and embarrassing family members”. And what a celebration it was!
Enjoy a few of my favourite images, below. ]]>
This was the view from the hotel suite. Beautiful!
Obviously, this was a non-conventional wedding, and as such, Holly and Alyson had a very unique way of “walking down the aisle”. The ceremony took place at Oakes Garden Theatre, which overlooks Niagara Falls. If you’ve ever been to the gardens, you are familiar with the two pillar structures that frame the theatre. When the time was right, Holly and Alyson each peeked from around one of the pillars, opposite each other, and saw each other for the first time. They then walked down their aisle, to meet in the centre, where their friends and family awaited.
The ceremony was extra special becuase Holly and Alyson had all of their guests participate – each had their own line to read.
The reception took place in the intimate setting of the Watermark Restaurant, atop the Hilton.
It was important for Holly and Alyson to get some photographs, in the Watermark, with the 10:00pm fireworks as the backdrop. Although (as most photographers will agree) photographing fireworks in front of a glass window possesses a whole set of challenges in and of itself, we ended up creating some real magical photos for the newlyweds.
